At Palmwoods Community Kindergarten we believe that each child is capable and competent. In line with contemporary practices of Early Childhood Education we strongly believe that children learn best through play. The development of children's social, emotional, intellectual, physical and creativity is best supported through play. We encourage the children to actively explore, gain a sense of wonder and investigate their world.
parents & guardians
The child's first and primary educator is their family. Our kindy acknowledges parents as partners in the educational process and so welcomes and encourages parent participation. Our kindy is owned and operated by a committee of voluntary parents.
Our dedicated teachers are 3-4 year University Trained and registered Early Childhood Teachers, similarly our teaching assistants are also qualified. All staff have current first aid training & blue cards.
Learning Environment & Resources
We offer a beautiful purpose built kindergarten environment. Our beautiful leafy outdoor play space invites your child to explore and discover. Our newly renovated kindy provides a wide range of open-ended play experiences and resources.
Play & Our Program
We practice a play-based, emergent curriculum based on the interests and needs of individual children, which offers a wide variety of age appropriate learning experiences. It is our aim to develop individuals who have good interpersonal skills, a sense of fair play and who can respect themselves and others. We celebrate our differences. Pre-literacy and pre-numeracy skills are explored in meaningful ways through the children's play.
Our kindy program is guided by C&K's unique Building Waterfalls Curriculum and the Early Years Learning Framework both encouraging a play-based and child-centred curriculum.
